  • Raging Moderates: Trump Blames Democrats, Demands His Ballroom, and Attacks Jimmy Kimmel Again (ft. Sen. Rand Paul)

Thanks for listening to Raging Moderates on the Prof G feed. This is just a preview of today’s full episode — and starting next week, we’ll be leaving this feed entirely. To get the full episode, subscribe to the Raging Moderates feed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen. Subscribe on YouTube , or check us out on Substack if you want it ad-free. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov sit down with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to unpack a volatile political moment in Washington. In the wake of the attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Republicans and President Trump are blaming Democrats for fueling political violence — while critics argue the response is part of a familiar cycle of partisan escalation, and that President Trump has espoused even more egregious rhetoric throughout his presidency. At the same time, Congress is debating a controversial proposal to fast-track Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom, exposing new divisions over spending, security, and priorities inside the GOP. The conversation also turns to free speech and media backlash, as Jimmy Kimmel faces renewed pressure from the Trump camp following a controversial joke that aired just days before the attack. Senator Paul weighs in on political responsibility, party loyalty, rising polarization, and what these flashpoints reveal about the state of the Republican Party heading into the midterms and 2028. • BEST OF: Jimmy Kimmel on His Career in Comedy!

In this Best Of episode, we revisit our 2020 conversation with Jimmy Kimmel! We go through his long career, beginning with his start in radio and his transition to television. We discuss the birth of Jimmy’s late night show back in 2003 and how, in his own words, the show was "genuinely terrible.” With time, Jimmy figured it out and established a template for what makes a good show and learned what makes a good guest versus a bad guest. A major turning point for Jimmy was when his son battled health challenges. He became more vocal on issues like healthcare, which led to him butting heads with the GOP over their attempts at repealing the Affordable Care Act. While this interview was in 2020, Jimmy continues to butt heads with the GOP, which resulted in his censorship battle with ABC and the Trump administration earlier this year. • Jimmy Kimmel Talks ABC Suspension and State of Late-Night TV
    Bloomberg Talks

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel thought his late-night show was over after ABC suspended the program following comments he made over the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk. “A list of demands was presented to me, and I was not going to go along with any of them,” the host said at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “And it’s like, well, I guess we’re done. I said to my wife, ‘That’s it. It’s over.’” In a wide-ranging interview, his first since returning to the air, Kimmel said his comments about Kirk’s killing were “intentionally and maliciously mischaracterized” by the political right. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Walt Disney Co.’s ABC network became a central figure in the Trump administration’s culture wars following the comments he made last month. Kimmel’s remarks prompted Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr to tell TV stations to drop the show or potentially face regulatory consequences. Kimmel, whose contract is up in May, declined to say whether he will continue hosting the show after that. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

  • I Stand With Jimmy Kimmel and Freedom of Speech

All your support helps! I appreciate you! Upgrade at 40% off Hello Friends! Tonight, Jimmy Kimmel is returning to the air after getting suspended for speaking the truth. We live in terrifying times. Lies are revered as sacred texts and the incomprehensible utterances of Big Brother are considered above even the word of god herself. What nonsense. They want us scared, reverential, and obedient. But it’s kind of difficult to respond that way in the face of this incompetent clown show that’s so dead-set on ruining every aspect of our lives. They want to take Tylenol away? Are you kidding me? Tylenol? Notice that nobody ever mentions the ill-effects of dick hardening pills. The Republicans wouldn’t be able to take advantage of their fully paid retreats to suspicious billionaire owned islands in the middle of nowhere without those. Jimmy went against the state narrative about the most recent school shooting. He dared to cite the facts that demonstrate school shootings are a Republican issue. They’re the ones who support white supremacy hate podcasts that radicalize kids. They’re the ones who refuse to prevent mentally deranged individuals from purchasing military grade weapons. Last weekend the nepo baby would-be tyrant hosted some bizarre ‘triumph of the will’ type propaganda festival. It was a flash forward to what we’re going to get in a new era of deranged conservative programming. Instead of clever comedians who present us with the truth, we’ll be getting glowering right-wing creepers who force children to be their “porn accountability buddies.” No thanks. For the time being, Jimmy Kimmel has emerged as a focal point in all these conflicts. Of all the late night comedians, he’s the one my wife prefers. I think it has a lot to do with Guillermo, who is frankly hilarious. In the aftermath of the election that brought “unquestionable leader” to power, Kimmel provided a lot of comfort. There was an episode where he came on and started packing his bags because he knew “he was on the list.” But Guillermo stepped forward and entreated him to stay because he had a platform and he had a voice. He had the power to resist! It was all done in the spirit of comedy, but when he said that I began to cry. For the last year, my emotions have run very close to the surface. All rational and empathetic people knew the pain that was about to be inflicted by giving power to this terrible, criminal Republican. I cried when I first saw the episode, and I cried again when I told my wife about it because I knew that this was our mission statement. We have to stay and fight because WE HAVE A VOICE! So, it was a gut punch when they announced they were taking Kimmel off the air, but I didn’t cry that time. All these months later, I’m dug in. We’ve endured many unprovoked and cruel attacks. They still hurt, but we have accepted the truth of our reality. When one of our allies goes down, ten more must rise to fill the gap. We’re not losing this fight. We’re not turning over our kids to the party that protects pedophiles by refusing to release the Epstein files or hold anyone accountable whether we’re talking about bribes or child rape or treason. This regime is dismantling and defiling our Constitution! But now, the first miracle has happened and Kimmel is back on the air. I know that there are some people out there who are afraid. They think he must have agreed to apologize or pay some absurd sum, or some other b******t. But I don’t think that’s the case. If Kimmel was going to apologize, he would have done it early in the negotiations. But the reports I heard were that he held firm. He waited. He gave the people of the United States the chance to cancel their subscriptions, and the people rose to the occasion! This isn’t the typ
